What to keep in mind when driving in Panama?

Driving a car in Panama is an advantage for different reasons. Panama is one of the preferred places in all of Latin America to go shopping, since in the free trade zone in the town of colon you can make purchases at incomparably lower prices than in any other part not only of Panama, but probably in the whole continent. Having a car will not only make it easier for you to transport your purchases, but it also guarantees freedom of movement as well as security.

What do I need to drive a car in Panama

Among the requirements to drive a car in Panama are:

Be over 18 years of age, although to rent a car you must be over 21 years old. In the case of car rental, some car rental companies allow you to rent a car if you are under 21 years old, however they charge an additional tax for this permit.
Have an identity card, in case you are a foreigner you must carry your passport
Have a valid driving license. In the event that you are a foreigner, your driving license is useful, but it is only valid for 3 years, so if your stay is prolonged you will have to apply for a Panamanian driving license.
